MULTI-MEDIA: COLORED PENCIL, PASTEL & WATERCOLOR

Learn through exploration in a relaxed environment. Students work on individual projects focusing on composition, perspective, value, color mixing, layering and more in their medium(s) of choice.

Increase your skills to translate imagery from your tablet or photograph to canvas. Work on principles of design, color harmony, temperature, value and more. Demonstrations and short presentations will help refine skills to develop one’s unique voice.

MODERN TRADITIONS IN PAINTING

Students will develop their painting skills in the representational or abstract style of their choice. The emphasis will be on the techniques and methodology of painting and on individual problem solving. Topics covered include color, composition, texture, tools and materials.

BEGINNING ACRYLIC PAINTING

This class will cover the basics, like color mixing and how to apply acrylic paint with various techniques. Additional topics include perspective, proportion and color theory. Students will choose the subject matter for their paintings with guided instruction. Various creative styles of painting will be explored for further inspiration. Materials will be discussed on the first day of class.

The important elements of a well-designed and beautifully “lit” painting will be practiced and discussed. Students will paint from their own photographs. BACK TO COLOR BASICS

Let’s take color down to the very basics. If you struggle to mix the color you desire or have never mixed any color ever, we will take the color wheel down to the primaries without sacrificing saturation – a limited palette with unlimited color. PROCESSES IN COLLAGE - 4 WEEK COURSE

Repurpose found materials and convert them into thought-provoking, colorful masterpieces. Explore ideas using various collaging and color techniques. The content of work created can range from poignant and purposeful to abstract and formal. Bring in magazines, old prints and photographs and meld them together with tape, paint, and oil pastels to create fresh, contemporary artwork.

Painting Drop-in Open Studio

Fridays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Painting students enrolled in the current semester class can attend Open Studio every week for no charge.
If you are not currently enrolled in painting Open Studio is available for $25 a day.
Advance registration is recommended but not required.
Access to studio space is on a first-come, first-served basis.
