un/wound/up:
Torin Andersen & Denise Irwin
May 30-July 19

Mark Arts is pleased to present striking, recent work by celebrated Wichita-based artists Torin Andersen and Denise Irwin. un/wound/up explores memory and transformation through distinct visual languages. Andersen’s work centers on the audio reel and box as symbols of time and containment—reels representing the cyclical nature of memory, and boxes as physical holders of history.

His vibrant, layered paintings reflect how individual stories overlap within a shared cultural narrative, turning archival labor into a joyful, expressive act.

Irwin’s ceramic work complements this theme with forms inspired by the Kansas prairie, shaped by hand and altered to evoke movement and tension. Working from her studio, she brings a quiet, grounded energy to the exhibition, drawing on the calming, elemental nature of clay.

Youth GALLERY

Youth Horizons: Out of Control
June 21-July 26

The Youth Gallery celebrates the creativity and imagination of young artists throughout the greater Wichita area. This dedicated exhibition space is specifically designed to showcase artwork created by students 18 years old and younger. By highlighting the artistic achievements of children and teens, the Youth Gallery nurtures the next generation of creatives and reinforces the value of arts education in our community.

Out of Control is a compelling exhibition created by youth in foster care - young people who are too often judged before they are heard. Each piece reflects a life navigated through systems, decisions, and traumas that these youth did not choose. But it also reflects creativity, voice, and the fight to reclaim what can be controlled: how their story is told, and how they want to be seen.

On occasion, the Gladys & Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery is closed for private events.
Please note the gallery will be closed on the following dates:

June 14
June 19-20
June 21 at 3 p.m.
June 24
