Congressional Art Awards
April 10-May 2, 2026

Each spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Congressional Art Awards, a nationwide high school art competition. Works by high school students in the 4th Congressional District in Kansas are exhibited at Mark Arts.  The overall winner of the district's An Artistic Discovery competition will eventually go on display with other Congressional Art Award winners for about one year in the U.S. Capitol. This year's first-place winner is the pastel painting The Thing with Feathers by Melian Miller, a student at Wichita East High School who is in Vinh Nguyen's class.
