10 am: Story time and animal visit
10:30 am: Art project
11:30 am: Performance
For our March 14 Art Together Program, Mark Arts is taking inspiration from springtime, when nature is bursting with creativity, critters and cool rhythms. This program is perfect for curious kids who love animals, art and music.
A Great Plains Nature Center naturalist will read the book “The Prairie that Nature Built” by Marybeth Lorbiecki and share information about the prairie ecosystem. Then participants will meet an animal who lives there: a snake!
After the animal visit, guests will create their own nature mandala using sticks, flowers and other natural materials to make colorful patterns inspired by nature. This hands-on art activity helps kids playfully explore rhythm and repetition.
To wrap up the fun, feel the beat with a high-energy performance by ICT Youth Drumline, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people through the performing arts. Through music education, percussion instruction, and dynamic performance opportunities, they aim to cultivate discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of community.
