Join us for an engaging morning of culture and creativity at Wichita State University’s Lowell D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology. The experience begins at 10 a.m. with Story Time in the gallery, featuring a reading of Discovering the Maasai People: A Child’s Journey to the Savanna by Ethan Braxton. Continue the journey with a hands-on art experience as guests explore stunning beaded Maasai necklaces from the museum’s collection, learn about their craftsmanship and cultural significance, and create a paper craft inspired by these iconic designs. The program concludes at with vibrant cultural performances presented by the Wichita African Union (WAU), a nonprofit organization founded by the African Diaspora to bridge cultures between Africa and Kansas while uplifting youth education and community outreach.
