School of Creativity Salon
Through September 28
This exhibition showcases our vibrant artistic community by featuring a diverse selection of recent works from students of all ages. Emerging talents and established creatives alike have contributed their exceptional creations, which have been nurtured through weekly studio art classes at Mark Arts. Through this exhibition, we aim to feature, celebrate, and applaud the impact of our talented instructors who play a pivotal role in shaping the artistic landscape of the region. The School of Creativity Salon offers a window into the thriving artistic community of Wichita and the impact of quality arts education on both emerging and established creatives.

Wendy Tan
From Flow to Form
Through September 23
Wendy Tan’s work is an exploration of memory and connection, delving into the artist’s fascination with complex and expansive spaces. Nature serves as a profound influence on Wendy Tan’s work, with childhood experiences in the countryside leaving a lasting impact on her visual creative expression. The charm of small wildflowers and plants, particularly as they transform into dry and curly leaves, captivates the artist with their unique forms and value. These seemingly insignificant elements reveal their beauty through intricate lines, textures, shapes, and forms, often requiring close attention or magnification to fully appreciate their allure. By pouring paint, Wendy Tan embraces the element of surprise, employing a bright and intense palette to evoke emotions and reactions.

Celebrating Art and Culture Through the Ages
Ongoing
This exhibition, curated by exhibition interns Athalia Altit and Katherine Wells, features artists from diverse backgrounds and commemorates how art naturally inserts itself into our daily lives. Each of these artistic niches represented here – ranging from dance, music, fashion, literature and architecture – are complex crafts with many talented artisans. The architect builds the stage, the author writes the play, the musician makes the score, the designer sews the costumes, and the performers put on the show. Without one or the other, the show could not go on. Art is a creative act, a community event, and a celebration of human innovation and collaboration.
