Youth Workshops

Keep their hands busy and minds engaged.              

These one-time workshops don’t require any experience or supplies and are $25 each. Advance registration is required, and enrollment closes 48 hours before the workshop.

The health of our visitors is our top priority. Youth who are not vaccinated should continue to wear facial coverings.  We look forward to creating with you!

KIDS' DAY OUT - LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS: SURREALISM

Thursday, Nov. 11 |Ages 5-8, 9 a.m. to noon | Ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m.

$25 – Things are getting weird in this workshop! Enter the dream worlds of Salvador Dalí and the uncanny contexts of René Magritte. Learn about how the distortion and placement of ordinary objects and give them new meaning.

KIDS' DAY OUT - LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS: RENAISSANCE ART

Thursday, Nov. 18| Ages 5-8, 9 a.m. to noon | Ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m.

$25 – What does Renaissance mean anyway? Learn all about the Renaissance movement and two rival artists, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who defined it.

KIDS' DRAWING CRASH COURSE

Tuesday, Nov. 23 – Wednesday, Nov. 24 | Ages 5-8, 9 a.m. to noon | Ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m. 

Instructor: TBD

$50 – In this two-day short course, students will be introduced to the elements of art, principles of design, and a multitude of drawing mediums. Students will be encouraged to use the knowledge they learn from short exercises to create a final project of their own.

KIDS' DAY OUT - LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS: IMPRESSIONISM

Friday, December 17 | Ages 5-8, 9 a.m. to noon | Ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m. 

Instructor: Adyson Kelley

$25 – Learn the difference between impressionism and realism. Create artwork inspired by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, whose paintings were quite rebellious for their time.

THE MAGIC OF ART

Tuesday, Dec. 28 – Thursday, Dec. 30 | Ages 5-8, 9 a.m. to noon | Ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m.

$75 – Let’s make some magic! Create an enchanted landscape, design a mythical pet, make your very own wand, and much more in this three-day workshop.

ZOOM PATTERN DOODLE MARKER MUGS

Ages 6 – 11 | March 18 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Instructor: Rachel Lewis

$25 – Learn about patterns and problem solving, then put your new skills to use by decorating a mug with permanent markers.  Instructions will be provided for heating the mugs at home to permanently set the marker on the ceramic surface.

$25 – Welcome back spring with crafting colorful suncatchers for your window in the shape of a bug.

UNICORN CAKE - SIDE BY SIDE

March 28, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. | $50 per pair | Instructor: Kara Smith

Beginner techniques taught in this class include: leveling cake layers, stacking and filling two cake layers, crumb coating and frosting a 2-layer, 6″ round cake. In addition, sugar cookie ears and horn will be provided to adorn your unicorn. Simple piping with a 1M tip will also be taught. All supplies are provided for this class. Each pair will leave with one decorated, 2-layer, 6″ cake. Recipes and a cake box will be provided. You may bring an apron from home. Recommended ages: 6+
