CLASSICAL SCULPTURE

It is recommended that a student complete Intermediate Drawing before taking this course. This course will cover practical concepts such as anatomy, measuring, and texture in three dimensions, building armatures, and preparing water based clay sculptures for firing. This course will begin with sculpting a copy of a plaster cast of the nose of David, and will end with sculpting a portrait of a live model. The practice of this course will lead the student through sculptures of components of the head, and then the entire head.

This class mixes beginning students with the experienced and ranges from the basic steps for creating functional pottery to advanced techniques for artistic sculptural vessels. ALTERNATIVE FIRING TECHNIQUES

This class explores alternative firing processes such as Raku and low-fire salt fuming. These styles of firing give unpredictable but exciting results with hands-on experience of the firing process. All skill levels are welcome.

BEGINNING SCULPTURE
