Mark 100 Regional Exhibition


January 3 – April 18, 2020

Mark Arts celebrates 100 years as an organization in 2020 and will mark the occasion with a blockbuster six-state juried exhibition, the Mark 100 Regional. The exhibition will feature artists from Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

The all-media exhibition will be on display for the New Year’s Eve Mark 100 bash and will officially open with a reception on January 3, 2020. First place will receive a $5,000 cash award.

Mark Arts opened its sophisticated and modern Mary R. Koch Center in January 2018 but is Wichita’s oldest visual arts organization, dating to its inception in 1920 as the Wichita Art Association.

JURORS

Mike Michaelis has been with Emprise Bank for nearly 50 years and has been seriously collecting art for 20 years. He co-chaired the $20 million campaign to build the new Mark Arts and has served as the chair of the board of Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas. He also serves on the board of the Wichita Art Museum and is a past board member of the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University.

Art fuels Sonia Greteman’s work and life. She earned a bachelor’s in fine arts from WSU and, in 1989, founded the powerhouse creative agency Greteman Group. She has served on the board of the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University and is past president of the City of Wichita Design Council. She has served as a public art consultant and design lead on multidisciplinary teams, including the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport and River Corridor Keeper of the Plains Plaza.

Chris Shank grew up in an environment filled with art. His uncle was at one time a commercial artist with Western Lithograph, rubbing elbows with the Prairie Print Makers, and his aunt was a brilliant amateur artist. Chris is a commercial account executive with USI Insurance Services (formerly Dulaney Johnston and Priest),where he has worked for nearly 40 years. Chris is a past chairperson and board member of the Wichita Art Museum and a past board member of the Ulrich Museum of Art.
