Drawing & Printmaking Classes

The health of our visitors is our top priority. Social distancing measures have been implemented in each studio. Studios are cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized between each class. Masks are required. We look forward to creating with you!

BEGINNING DRAWING

The goal of this class is to introduce the students to basic concepts of drawing. There will be four different drawing units in this class: still life, contour outline drawing, negative space and experimental. Each unit will be taught with the purpose of furthering the students’ skills in not only drawing, but also in seeing and understanding what they are looking at and how to best put that to paper through the art of drawing.

DRAWING & PAINTING FUNDAMENTALS

This class will build a solid foundation in core skills for drawing
and/or oil painting. Students can choose their preferred medium to work in to build their skills in a supportive group setting with individualized instruction. Topics will include, but are not limited to, still life, contour outline, and negative space.

CONTEMPORARY DRAWING STUDIO

Take the lead and design your own project in this studio-style class. You have the technique, and now you can transition into making your own thought-provoking work. This class will have group critiques and research on contemporary artist will inspire and challenge you.

FOUNDATION FIGURE DRAWING

Understand the foundation of constructing the human figure. Student work will cover gesture drawing, methods of measurement and basic anatomy. Students will learn from start to finish how to construct the foundation of a successful figure drawing.

Ages: 18 + | Students under the age of 18 should contact Mark Arts to receive a copy of the permission slip.

PORTRAIT FUNDAMENTALS USING CASTS

Learn the fundamentals of constructing the human face. students will learn about placement of features, facial anatomy, planes of the face and individual features.

Students will be introduced to a variety of printmaking processes and can choose to work in lithography, intaglio, relief, and monoprint. The lab fee is included and includes the use of most studio supplies: inks, printmaking paper, newsprint, chemicals, and solvents.

PORTRAITS WITH A LIVE MODEL

This is a class for artists looking to practice more from a live model. Bring your favorite materials. This class if for beginners to advanced artists looking to improve their observational skills. There will be a demo on basics of portraiture each class.

TALLGRASS PRAIRIE PRESS PRINTMAKING STUDIO - 16 WEEKS

Lab fee included. Printmaking is open to all experience levels. Students can work on any of the following printmaking processes: lithography (stone or polyplate), intaglio (copper plate, dry point, solar plate & collagraph), relief (wood block and linoleum plates), and monoprints. Lab fee includes the use of most studio supplies: inks, printmaking paper, newsprint, chemicals and solvents.
