ASSIGNMENT BASED WHEEL THROWING

This will be a structured class with the first part of each class being devoted to presentations, demonstrations, and discussion. Then students will have the rest of the time to work on that week’s assignment. The ability to attend open studio on Fridays will be advantageous for trimming and finishing pieces since there will be limited time during the class time.

Skill Level: Intermediate (knows the basics) and advanced skills are required for this class, but accommodations can be made for a beginner level student with alternative assignments that focus on the basics of wheel throwing.”

EXPLORE THE STUDIOS

In this course, students will have the opportunity to experience a workshop in every one of Mark Arts’ 7 art studios. Each week will be led by a different instructor who teaches weekly classes in their medium. Ceramics Drop-in Open Studio

Fridays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Students currently enrolled may attend open studio free of charge.
For previous students not currently enrolled, open studio is available for $25 per session.

Students in classes that run the full 7 weeks will need a ceramics kit, which may be purchased for $25 on the first day of class.
Intro class students will use a classroom supply of clay and tools. Tuition includes glaze & firing.
Clay is available for purchase for $20.

ALTERNATIVE FIRING TECHNIQUES

This class explores alternative firing processes such as Raku and low-fire salt fuming. These styles of firing give unpredictable but exciting results with hands-on experience of the firing process. All skill levels are welcome.
